What age do I need to be to audition?

Do I need to be in Scouting or Guiding to audition?

Only full and active members or the Scout or Guide Association can join the gang.

Do I need to attend both audition dates?

You will only need to attend one of the two days.

If your surname begins A-M then please attend the audition on 12th May, 2019. If your surname begins N-Z then please attend the audition on 19th May, 2019.

What if I can't attend my date?

If you cannot attend the audition date associated with your surname, then please come along to the other one.

You will need to attend one of the audition dates to be in the running for a place in the Basingstoke Gang Show cast.

What if I can't attend either of the dates?

What time should I arrive for the audition?

Auditions begin at 10am, arrive a few minutes early to allow time to sign-in (remember - registration forms MUST be completed before you arrive for auditions). If you are attending the audition on the 12th May, 2019 we suggest you allow extra time to get to Costello, as the Transport Festival is taking place in the War Memorial Park and this has caused long delays in previous years.

Please bring a pack lunch with you, squash will be provided on the day.

You will need to wear loose clothes that you are able to dance in, including plimsolls or jazz shoes. No jeans or trainers should be worn.

What do I need to bring to the audition?

The day runs like a workshop, you will get the chance to learn a dance routine, sing some songs and make lots of new friends who enjoy performing too. You will 'Audition' by singing and dancing as part of a small group - you won't be required to sing and dance on your own

What will happen during the day?

You don’t need to stay with your child when they audition.

However, you will have the chance to watch what your children have learned during the audition day - just arrive to pick them up at about 3.45 pm to see the short performance.

I'm a parent/ guardian - what do I need to know?

The production team will decide who has been successful in gaining a place in the show, as soon as both auditions have taken place. The production team will email you a few days after the last auditions, to confirm whether you have been successful or not.

When will I find out if I have a place in the show?

You will be required to attend rehearsals on a Friday evening and Sundays from September until the show in February. For some cast members, there may be additional dance studio rehearsals on a weeknight in January.

What commitment is needed if I get a place?

Basingstoke Gang Show 2020 will be performed during February half term holiday 2020. Performances take place between 13th to 22nd February, 2020.
